Hi Ann,
I was proud to be the prom queen, how much fun!!

I'm glad to see people respond to an issue that i feel needs to come to light.
I can relate to what you said and in return I say that we should not help to fund these places if they are not willing to accept the change that is needed.
I also feel that if we continue to help these people that we are saying that we accept this behavior, that we are condoning the rape of these women by sending them money to survive.Or saying that it's okay to sell yourself and spread disease when we don't accept that in our own country.
I guess I could go on,but would that be preaching to the choir?
Thanks for your comments, and keep em' coming!

Thanks again for being the best DJ/prom queen a girl could ever ask for!

As for africa, a lot of it can be traced back to our wonderful president and the religious right. Restrictions have been placed on sex education funding due to the global gag rule, etc. This means a lot of abstinence and family planning advice. To begin with, you have a huge population wherein condom use is taboo, and a culture of rape and prostitution to add to the problem.

But you're right, it's emotionally exhausting to see the same plea for help year after year. International aid is a tough sell when your progress is so negligible.

Hey ODQ,
I'm glad someone other than myself can see some of the problems going on with feeding and more importantly the education that is obviously lacking.I hope most people understand that I do feel bad that innocent children are suffering, but what is being done to teach the parents that they are responsible to stay alive and care for the children they brought into this world. And why aren't the school systems that have been out in place teaching them to not bring children into a world in which they cannot be provided for.
Yes we should get in on some of this money that is not actually helping the people who really need it,rather those who are claiming they do to help those in need.Hmmm?

lotsa love,
dj G

Even though it's hard to just agree with your Africa rant, I must say, how come the $ isn't used to teach them a damn thing? And seriously, are there commercials in England or Amsterdam or wherever else that ask for help toward our homeless, illiterate or poorly educated? Doubt it. Our hungry, needy citizens are treated like they did it to themselves and they need to take an opportunity to pull themselves out of it. What hypocrisy! G, let's make youtube commercials starting a nationwide consciousness about our poor and have a foundation to let people send $ to us to help them! But of course only geared toward foreign countries, cuz countries rarely consider their own peeps.
